Production Without Borders | Navigating Immigration in the US
US Immigration Strategies for Producers and Production Managers
Tuesday 24th November by Zoom
5pm for approximately 60 min
Global film and television production relies on international cast, crew, and creative talent to bring projects to life. But when immigration is overlooked or left until the last minute, productions can face costly delays, unexpected expenses and significant scheduling challenges.
This practical session by Paul Samartin, a US Immigration Attorney and Managing Partner at Samartin and Friends, explores the US immigration issues that production managers, line producers and production executives encounter most frequently. We will explore the visa options commonly used by talent in the production industry, alongside realistic timelines, common misconceptions, and the mistakes that can put productions at risk.
The session will examine real-world scenarios, including last-minute talent bookings, international co-productions, consular appointment delays and emergency travel requests. Most importantly, Paul will share practical strategies for building immigration planning into the production process to help keep projects on schedule and within budget. The session will conclude with a Q&A, giving members the opportunity to discuss their specific questions.
Whether you're managing a major international production or a fast-moving independent project, this session will provide valuable insights to help you navigate US immigration requirements with confidence and avoid the pitfalls that can derail a production.
Attendees will gain actionable insights into planning ahead, minimising disruptions and working effectively with immigration counsel to keep productions on track.
