TITANIC AND ME

Production company: 360 Production; On-screen credit: Production Manager; Programme type: Documentary; Broadcaster: BBC.

The sinking of the Titanic is the most famous disaster in maritime history. It touched the lives of people from Belfast to Glasgow, from Liverpool to Southampton – not to mention those from even further afield, from the United States via France, to Germany and Russia – there were few places on earth that were not touched when the great unsinkable ship, sunk. For the first time, Len Goodman will bring all of these stories together to create a true popular history of the Titanic. I am responsible for all production and managerial duties (across 4 episodes), particularly managing the budget from negotiation through to final cost report ( including variance analysis, cash-flow and milestone payments/deliveries), locations, health and safety and insurance issues. I look after hiring the production staff, scheduling and oversee the co-ordinator in ensuring all contracts and release forms collate in order to meet our contractual obligations and make sure all music and archive is cleared. I am also the first point of contact between the British Broadcasting Corporation and the presenter.

TORNADO RAMPAGE 2011

Production company: Darlow Smithson Productions; On-screen credit: Production Manager; Programme type: Documentary; Broadcaster: Discovery US.

Tornado Rampage 2011 finds the people who were pulled into the raging tornadoes and tells their stories first-hand, with remarkable and terrifying video footage they shot in the heat of the storm. For the first time the film includes amateur footage shot inside the tornado’s vortex as it crushed the town of Fultondale Alabama, and exclusive astonishing footage from those in the southern states who had their camcorders to hand as they ran for their lives, as houses were ripped from their foundations and thrown across town. This was a fast turnaround production which was fully delivered within two and a half weeks. I was responsible for hiring staff, crew in the US and prepared the production schedule and delivery to meet the needs of the company and the Discovery Channel under tight time constraints. I managed the budget from pre to post production and final delivery. I was also in charge in making sure that all music and archive was cleared before transmission and supported staff under a highly pressurised environment.
